From its foundation (1985), the University of Castilla-La Mancha (UCLM) has grown at a high rate, attracting qualified human resources and providing the people in the region with high education skills. UCLM integrates 36 academic departments offering 45 degree qualifications. UCLM has two peculiar features: a) it is multi-disciplinary, undertaking work in practically all branches of knowledge; and b) its activities are very wide-ranging, embracing the spectrum from basic research to technological development. Moreover, promoting collaborations between industry and academia and favouring the dissemination of technological advances are part of our University’s missions, demonstrating the strong commitment that UCLM has with the productive sectors of the region. The Knowledge and Technology Transfer Office is the structure within the University that strongly collaborates in this task.

NAME: MIGUEL ANGEL GAERTNER

CV RESUME:

Miguel Angel Gaertner is an Associate Professor of Atmospheric Physics at the Faculty of Environmental Sciences. He is the main co-author of PROMES regional climate model and has published a large number of peer-reviewed articles related to climate and meteorological modelling. He has been PI in AMMA EU project (FP6) and several national funded projects. In addition to regional climate modelling and land-surface atmosphere interactions, his current research interests include the study of cyclone extremes under climate change scenarios.

NAME: ENRIQUE SÁNCHEZ

CV RESUME:

Enrique Sánchez is an Associate Professor of Atmospheric Physics at the Faculty of Environmental Sciences. His PhD was related to modelling of turbulence and clouds, in the frame of two European FP projects. Afterwards he joined UCLM-MOMAC group and worked in the improvement and application of PROMES model. His research interests also include climate extremes. He has published many peer-reviewed papers in these fields and has been PI in CLARIS-LPB EU project (FP6), where he led a WP.

NAME: MANUEL CASTRO

CV RESUME:

Manuel Castro is a Full Professor of Atmospheric Physics at the Faculty of Environmental Sciences of UCLM. His research fields include atmospheric radiative transfer, air pollution, wind energy forecasting and meteorological and climate regional modelling, with a large number of peer-reviewed publications in these fields. He is director of the Environmental Sciences Institute (ICAM, UCLM) in Toledo (Spain), head of UCLM-MOMAC group and has been PI in six EU projects (FP4, FP5 and FP6). He has participated as a LA in the IPCC AR5 WG1.
