Department carrying out activities: Socio-Humanities & Political Studies Department

InterFusion Services Ltd is an innovative R&D SME based in Cyprus comprising three core Departments: 1. ICT & Media Department, 2. Socio-Humanities & Political Studies Department, and 3. The Environmental Policy Department. InterFusion employs experts in the above departments with vast experience in the management and coordination of research funded projects in both national and European level projects. All three departments support a dynamic intellectual team of members that focus on actively contributing and exploring links between the most important core areas related to political developments like sustainable tourism and in horizontal ICT fields like e-government and e-inclusion, while keeping in tune with the regional, national and international developments. The company acts as a leader of the Sustainability work package in the CIP-ICT projects DIEGO and SEED supporting municipalities of Pafos and Pegeia respectively; as pilot leader in the FP7-ICT-2011-7 integrating project (IP) titled ‘Future Policy Modelling’ with acronym FUPOL and as Policy Experts in various domains including Sustainable Tourism. It is also worth mentioning that the company acted as a subcontractor to the FP6 project SESAME entitled Southern European Seas: Assessing and Modelling Ecosystem Changes. During the project;s mplementation stage InterFusion will capitalise on its expertise on Fuzzy Cognitive Maps, a computational methodology extremely suitable for policy making. A Fuzzy Cognitive Map simulation in-house software developed in Matlab, that makes use of expert knowledge. It is an intelligent decision-support tool and in the past has been used successfully to model social, economic, political and environmental problems.

NAME: YIANNIS KONNARIS

Giannis Konnaris is the Head of the Socio Humanities Department of InterFusion with significant experience drafting and implementing proposal projects in local and EU level. He holds a BA in Social and Political Studies by the University of Cyprus and a Master Degree in Visual Sociology by the Goldsmiths University of London, UK. He is an active member of the European Association for the Defense of Human Rights and a member the European Survey Research Association. Areas of proven expertise include: Quantitative analysis and primary qualitative research skills, interviewing, focus groups, long-term participant observation, mentor and coaching, curricula development, course organization, training, and training impact evaluations, plus the ability to develop manuals and guidelines in order to institutionalize best practices in Local and European Level.

NAME: HARIS NEOPHYTOU

Haris Neophytou is the founder and Research Director of InterFusion and is responsible for shaping the company’s overall corporate strategy and technology agenda while overseeing the company’s R&D core function. He holds a B.Sc. degree in Computer Science from the University of Cyprus and an MBA from the Cyprus International Institute of Management. He was the coordinator of the Cypriot pilot for DIEGO, ICT-PSP project, and is WP leader in the SEED and INCA ICT-PSP projects. He also participates as one of the main technical experts in the FUPOL FP7-ICT IP project. In his previous job assignment, he was leading the R&D efforts of a prestigious telco, PrimeTel Plc. At PrimeTel he was involved in many R&D projects (FP7-ICT, CIP) and undertook roles spanning from project coordinator to work-package and task leader.

NAME: CONSTANTINOS STYLIANOU

Constantinos Stylianou is a research associate at InterFusion. He holds a PhD degree from the Department of Computer Science of the University of Cyprus. His research interests focus mainly in the area of software engineering and, in particular, on aspects of software project management, such as the use of computational intelligence techniques for scheduling and allocation, and human-centric factors in software development. In addition, his interests involve the use of fuzzy cognitive maps as qualitative modelling tools for analysing social, political and economic problems. He has worked in several EU-funded projects.
